Smith then buys the Whirl-A-Way Motor Company and unifies all of it's operations and produces the first low-cost, high-volume permanent split capacitor motor. Then in the early seventies this successfully built company creates the first UL-approved swimming pool motor and continued to show leadership in the technology field by incorporating computer-aided engineering, Materials Analysis, Dynamometer Labs, Torque Labs, Application Testing, Sound and Vibration Analysis, Performance Testing and Electronics Labs.
